A simple 3 wick candle surrounded by scented Eucalyptus and tiny pieces of dried orange.  Two single Grand Prix Roses thats the scentd one with the big head one surrounded by winter foliage and herbs the other with dried orange slices, both on a base of cinnamon sticks.  Great for little gifts.

October weddings

Well here we are well into October the wedding season is coming to an end.  This month so far the flower lady has been to Eshott Hall and Alnwick Gardens.
The wedding at Eshott Hall was on one of the very few Saturdays when the sun shone it was a gorgeous day.  We used a collection of small vases both plain glass and cut glass in a group in the centre of the tables.  We used Mimi Eden spray Roses, Hydrangea, Amnesia and sweet Avalanche Roses,  double pale pink and green Lisianthus and ivory Freesia.  The bride carried a simple bouquet of faded pink Hydrangea tied with ivory organza ribbon.

The bride and groom Caroline and Mark had found little match books of flower seeds for the place settings and each table was given a box of champaigne truffles.

Well the second night of the tour is in Dunfermline so its only about a mile from the b and b met some really nice people again everyone is so helpful.

Wednesday morning and its off to Edinburgh to van Vliet to buy some flowers for the next two nights demonstations.  Today it was quite hot no good for the flowers.  So the flower lady headed off to find some food and went to the country park just outside of Pennicuik where she prepared the flowers and read her book parked up in the shade.  There were some funny looks from passers by.  The b and b for wednesday night was the Aaron Glen guest house in Loanhead it was very nice good size car park for the large vehicle she drives.  We can recommend this one also.

Pennicuik flower club is small and like all the others is looking for new members everyone seemend to enjoy the night and the committee were very helpful once again.

Well the last day of the tour home tonight.  Its hot again so the flower lady went to the Glentress country park just outside of Peebles and once again sat with the doors open and read her book.  Its getting to a cruicial point now I cannot believe the ending you must read it.  Should have brought a bike its a great cycling area in the forest.  Not good on your own though.

Some retail therapy in the afternoon they have some gorgeous shops in Peebles town centre.  The sun has gone in now so the flowers can be left to their own devices in the back of the van.

Peebles flower club tonight lots of lovely people they had a couple of visitors tonight hopefully they had a good night and will join the club.

Thanks to everyone from all of the clubs its lovely to meet you all and have a successful year.

Well the flower lady has been up in Scotland again on a tour of the flower clubs.  This time she has been to Kirkcaldy the wind was howling on Monday what do they class as a high sided vehicle on the fourth road bridge.  Never mind she is living to tell the tale.  The ladies at Kirkcaldy are a very friendly group and seemed to enjoy the demonstration this time called today i went shopping.  Stayed in a b and b called the pitreavie Guest house in Dunfermline it was very good and she was very well looked after including the use of the garage for some of the flowers.  Tuesday a bit of retail therapy in Dunfermline some cake and coffee as well as lunch.
A book to recommend called one day which could not be put down in fact read the whole thing in three days.

Late update

Today the flower ladies have been out and about covering many miles for the sake of the flower.  Our weddings today were at Eshott Hall north of Morpeth and Otterburn Tower Hotel in the north of Northumberland.  Our brief today at Eshott was simplicity with white Phalanopsis Orchids in glass cubes filled with moss on the tables.  Simply stunning venue with gorgeous grounds for photos.  The bride carried a shower bouquet of Cezzanne Roses that's a cream rose with pink edged petals, ivory Freesia, Vandella Rose this one is ivory and Stephanotis.  The three bridesmaids carried simple tied posies of ivory Freesia and Vandella Roses.

After a quick sprint back to Morpeth we collected the step ladder and went to Otterburn it was raining again.  Today the flower lady was assisted by Sue and Charlotte (pictures of the assistants to come).  Here we had a colour scheme of Purple and ivory.  Single purple Hydrangea heads floating in the top of a martini glass with crystals.  Tall cones made from sisal sprayed silver which had a single purple Hydrangea in the top were attached to a garland of tuille down the stairs (that will stop them sliding down the bannister later) and around the walls of the marquee. The cones each had crystals attached patiently threaded onto wire by the assistants while watching tv.

The highlight was probably the pole dancing.  Whats all that about you might say.  We decorated the two poles in the marquee with organza and ivy but that meant that the flower lady herself had to go to the top of the ladder whilst the assistants took turns holding the ladder making comments about her dancing skills.  Its not good to start laughing holding a pole while your feet are eight feet off the ground.

Well all finished so off to Otterburn Mill for lunch quiche and salad and a cup of tea and a scone for Sue.  Its raining again in fact its like a monsoon the roads are flooded in places.

May weddings.

We began the May wedding month with a bang on May day.  Two weddings one at Longhirst Hall with a May day theme with lots of bunting etc the other at Middleton Hall in Teesdale.  What a gorgeous house and a fab place for a wedding.  Pictures attached for both.

We started the day at 5.30 making button holes and packing the boxes its quite exciting really even though we are becoming nocturnal.  As it was a glorious day we were able to work outside which is always a bonus.

The table arrangements are May poles with Ranunculus, Lissianthus, Alchemilla and Roses around the bottom all contained in tiny glass tubes of water.  The top table had lots of groups of small vases of different sizes along the front.

Then a quick dash down the A1 to Middleton Hall.  Pinks, ivory and peach with pearls and vintage glass.  Lots of large headed Roses, peaony, ranunculus and Anemonie.  The Bay trees came along too looking splendid as usual.  The hall has a font in the entrance which was filled with water and had white very scented peaony floating on the top.
